From the roaster's bench, Nocturne is a Bourbon barrel aged Ethiopian decaf crafted by Hogg Batch Barrel-Aged Coffee. The beans originate in Ethiopia and undergo the Mountain Water Process decaffeination before resting in fresh Bourbon barrels to soften edges and add dimension while preserving the origin character. It tastes like cane sugar, milk chocolate, and strawberry, with a medium body and a gentle sweetness that lingers beyond the last sip. Mountain Water Process decaf is chosen to preserve origin character while Bourbon aging adds layers of richness. In Ethiopia, highland coffees often carry bright acidity and nuanced notes; Nocturne leans toward refined sweetness and cocoa-like depth, making it versatile for black or milk-forward preparations. Pair with a butter croissant or almond pastry to complement the chocolatey sweetness without overpowering it.
