Hydrangea Coffee Roasters partnered with Fabricio and Ramiro Coronel Pilco to present Typica Mejorado from Hacienda La Florida. This lot from Loja, Ecuador, sits at 1550 meters above sea level and was processed using Anaerobic Washed, a method that leans into brightness and fruity complexity. The result invites curiosity about how fermentation shapes the cup and how terroir expresses itself in clear sweetness. In the cup it tastes like pineapple, white currant, and lilac, with a light, orchard-like sweetness and a lively acidity that keeps the cup balanced.
Hydrangea describes the taste as a lens on the origin, where tropical fruit notes emerge without overpowering acidity, revealing the care taken at the farm and in the ferment. Origin context: Loja's altitude and volcanic soils contribute to clarity and brightness, and the Anaerobic Washed technique highlights those regional characteristics while offering a unique fermentation profile.
