Portrait Coffee’s Rwanda Humure is one of the roaster’s best sellers, and it is easy to see why. The cup is built around balance. Sweet, bright, and fruit-forward without pushing too far in any one direction. Portrait frames the coffee as a tribute to director Barry Jenkins, and that sense of intention shows up as a composed, approachable profile that still feels nuanced.
Humure comes from the Remera Sector of Gatsibo District in Rwanda’s Eastern Province, grown between 1,500 and 1,900 meters. At this elevation, cherries ripen more slowly, helping develop clearer acidity and layered sweetness. The washed process reinforces that clarity. Portrait describes flavors that might remind you of crisp cherry, brown sugar, and green apple. In everyday terms, it tastes clean and lively, with red-fruit brightness, a gentle caramel sweetness, and a fresh apple-like finish that keeps the cup feeling light and repeatable.
