Shoebox Coffee partnered with Pablo Guerrero of El Obraje to bring Colombia El Obraje Gesha Washed to curious home brewers. This lot comes from El Obraje, a farm in Tangua just outside Pasto, where the Guerrero family has long cultivated coffee. The Gesha variety is showcased through a careful washed process that keeps the cup bright and expressive. Processing context: The washed process used here is intentionally simple. Twenty hours in cherry were followed by depulping and washing, then a short underwater fermentation. This sequence helps preserve the fruit forward character of the Gesha and lends a clean, vibrant cup. Flavor and terroir: The roaster describes the taste as mango, starfruit, and Meyer lemon with a lemony floral finish. In practical terms, you might taste tropical fruit sweetness balanced by citrus brightness, with a delicate floral lift toward the end. This coffee sits well with light roast profiles that let acidity and fruit shine, and pairs nicely with breakfast pastries.
