Shoebox Coffee features a natural Gesha from Monte De Oro in Guatemala, led by Mario Alarcón. An industrial mechanical engineer by training, Mario has refined the farm’s wet mill for precise drying and water efficiency. At 1,600 meters on rich volcanic soils between two active volcanoes, Monte De Oro focuses on meticulous picking and patient, controlled drying to keep the profile clean.
Processing is classic natural with a technical touch. Whole cherries dry in fruit to concentrate sweetness and aroma. A very light roast was chosen to spotlight clarity and avoid fermenty “funk.” The roaster describes the taste as cherry blossom, red wine, and rose when hot, shifting toward mandarin and orange blossom as it cools. In the cup, it tastes like vivid red fruit, bright citrus, and lifted florals with a silky, composed finish. Variety Gesha. Origin Monte De Oro, Guatemala. Elevation 1,600 MASL. Process natural. Produced by Mario Alarcón.
