Mirra Coffee presents a washed SL34 from Martín Santos of Finca Esther in Boquete, Panama. Grown at 1,550 meters on the slopes of the Barú volcano, this lot reflects a site chosen for durable terroir and steady sweetness. It is part of Mirra’s exploration of Panama beyond Gesha, a natural follow-up to the roaster’s earlier release of a Panamanian SL28. SL34 traces to Kenya within the Typica family and is prized for clean structure and expressive fruit when handled with care. Here, a classic washed process keeps the profile precise while letting the variety’s darker fruit tones take the lead.
In the cup, the roaster describes the taste as black plum, white vanilla, and black cherry cola. It tastes plush and sweet with gentle brightness. It might remind you of ripe stone fruit, a soft vanilla cream, and a cola-like spice that lingers on the finish. Expect a round body with measured acidity and a calm, composed sweetness that feels faithful to Kenyan expressions of SL34 while clearly shaped by Boquete’s volcanic soils.
