This washed Red Bourbon comes from Apaneca, El Salvador, grown around 1,300 meters and produced by the Menendez family. Brash Coffee has worked with Miguel Menendez and his sons for more than eight years, and the roaster points to the way the farm is run as part of what makes these lots so dependable. They oversee day-to-day operations with a focus not only on quality, but on taking care of their 300 plus employees with a kind of steady, family-style generosity that shows up as consistency in the cup.
Because it’s washed, the coffee is built more around clarity than fruit-heavy intensity. The roaster describes it as tasting like dark chocolate, orange peel, and black currant. In simpler terms, it might remind you of a cocoa-forward base with a clean citrus brightness and a darker berry note that adds depth rather than sweetness. The finish tends to feel structured and crisp, the kind of profile that stays balanced and easy to return to.
