Portrait Coffee partnered with Juanachute Micromill to bring a Costa Rican classic into sharper focus. This lot, Costa Rica Villa Sarchi, is roasted light to preserve its delicate aromatics and the signature lift of Tarrazú's high altitude cherries. The Villa Sarchi varietal from Juanachute Micromill undergoes a natural anaerobic process in a sealed, oxygen free environment, where whole cherries ferment before drying. This controlled fermentation deepens sweetness and adds complexity. In Tarrazú's high elevation, that method helps balance brightness and body, yielding a cup that is expressive yet refined. The roaster describes the tasting as blackberry, rose, and dark chocolate. In simpler terms that translates to blackberry fruitiness with delicate rose florals and a cocoa finish. This coffee is versatile for both filter and espresso and pairs nicely with a jam pastry or toast for a bright morning ritual.
