Portrait Coffee partnered with Kisoro Estate and Mountain Harvest to tell a story of place and process. This microlot comes from the Kisoro Estate in the volcanic Kigezi Highlands of southwestern Uganda, grown at 1800 masl. The estate was founded to test regenerative agriculture and precision processing, and this Anaerobic Natural lot ferments in sealed containers before drying. That approach concentrates fruit character and brings a winey acidity while keeping a mellow, sugary sweetness. In the cup, it might remind you of deep chocolate and caramel with a veil of fruit. The roaster describes the taste as deep layers of chocolate and caramel paired with the complex notes of cooked red grape and dried cranberry. This processing method highlights Uganda's terroir and showcases how careful fermentation management can push regional cups toward competition-grade nanolots.

Wow, this Uganda brewed on Chemex is yummy. 😋 It’s bright and fruity on the sip then as it travels down the back of the mouth it gets smooth sweet and big. They have improved this roast profile since the last time I tried this. ☕️
