Regalia Coffee partnered with Gitare washing station to bring this hyper fresh Kenyan lot to your cup. Gitare washing station, established in 1954 and part of the Kimaratia Farmers Co operative Society, sits at nearly 1900 masl near Gatundu in Kiambu. The washing station sources its water from the River Theta, a detail that speaks to the care behind this lot. This washed coffee embodies the region's bright fruit character and clean sweetness, a hallmark of kenyan highland processing. The roaster describes the taste as it tastes like pomegranate and currant jam upfront, with a juicy plum body and a hint of lychee in the finish, along with notes of dark chocolate and fig. The processing method is central to how this cup expresses itself; washed processing clarifies acidity and brightness while maintaining sweetness. In Kiambu's high altitude, cherries mature slowly, yielding lively acidity balanced by fruit-forward sweetness. Pair with a light pastry to echo the cup's brightness.
