Valor Coffee’s Mara Estate release is unusual because it comes from Kenya’s fly crop, the smaller second harvest, and uses an anaerobic natural process instead of the washed method more commonly associated with Kenyan coffee. That makes this lot feel both experimental and intentional, giving a smaller harvest more purpose while showing a different side of Kenyan coffee.
Grown at Mara Estate in Narok County, this coffee combines SL28, Ruiru 11, and Batian. The roaster describes the taste as caramel, Sumo citrus, and creme de cassis. In simpler terms, it tastes like dark berry sweetness, rich caramel, and bright citrus. It still has the lively structure you might expect from Kenya, but with a rounder, fruitier profile that makes the cup feel expressive and a little unexpected.
