Valor Coffee built Watermelon Crush as a playful two-part cup. It begins with a washed Ethiopian lot from the remote Yabitu Koba area, a style known for clean sweetness and citrusy lift. To that foundation, the roaster adds a co-fermented coffee from producer Sebastián Ramírez, whose cherries rest in sealed tanks with pieces of watermelon for 120 hours before careful drying. Co-fermentation like this intensifies fruit aromatics and softens edges, while the washed Ethiopian keeps the profile bright and composed.

The roaster describes the taste as bright and fruity. In the cup, it tastes like ripe red fruit with a gentle tropical sway, anchored by a clean sweetness and a lively, refreshing acidity. It might remind you of melon, berry, and a touch of floral citrus. The result is a memorable, shareable coffee that feels festive without losing clarity, marrying experimental sparkle with the classic poise Ethiopia is loved for.
